-In 1996 Iran created a Sara doll, this doll was created to fight the American culture and depiction of women.She is fully clothed and veiled to represent model Islamic women.
- Dara her brother was created to represent the healthy brother sister relationship instead of the unhealthy and impure relationship Ken and Barbie shared.
- Majud Gaderi states " Barbie is an American woman who never wants to get pregnant and have babies. She never wants to look old,and this contradicts our culture."
- Mattel cooperation had to alter barbie when marketed in Japan. This included brunette hair and a less aggressive smile. She was named Licca.
- The owner of a Japanese toy company stated "I don't think their doll is considered American like before. Now there are kids who play with Licca and Barbie together. It's a border less era."
Consumption and Cultural Interaction
- Consumer culture has created two trends: a tendency towards homogenization of cultural products and heightened awareness of local tastes and values.
- Homogenizing includes Americanization and McDonaldization of the world
- US culture is threatening the traditional values and customs of nations everywhere.
- Examples of globalization include: Rolex from Switzerland, Armani clothes from Italy, electronics from Japan and Perrier water from France.
- Pan-American culture began to compete with the United States
- Eva Peron became a major pop icon in Argentina and around the world..."I will return and I will be millions."
- After her death: Housing projects were named after her and her face has appeared on T-shirts
- Popular Broadway musical about Eva, "Evita", was performed in London and around the world, iconic in United States and Europe, became a film in 1996
- MTV Latino was trending in Latin America and looked upon as a foreign cultural intrusion, Latin videos deejays spoke in Spanglish or Chequenos
- Cultural dominance was limited by the Latin American societies' ability to bled and absorb a variety of foreign and indigenous practices.

- Mass media is a vehicle for cultural imperialism because electronic media and the messages they carry come fro advanced capitalist societies

- Ganghuo qiang: a "fire wall" that china has put up to try and contain the influence of the English Internet
-Societies have found ways to adapt to European and U.S. technology to meet own needs
- Teleision is used to promote state building since most television industries are state conrolled
-Vietnam and Iraq limit access to foreign servers on the Internet, harness the power of technology for their own purposes while avoiding cultural interference
